The visionary and speclacular Kunsthaus designed by Peier Cook and Colrn Fournier was a great highlight for “ Graz 2003 Cultural Capital of Europe A matrix of 930 fluorescent lamps are integrated into the eastern acrylic glass facade ol the biomorphic building structure of the new Kunsthaus The brightness of each lamp can be individually adjusted along an infinite scale at up to twenty frame per second, transforming the skin of the Kunsthaus mto a giant display for film and animation.

Above the rectangular living space with a glass border to the south and closed wooden border to the north, the root floats on a few pillars Implemented in pure concrete, the root stands on the pillars like the table in front ol the old house Under this “table" the living space of the 125 m is organized as a very free space The idea ol living on one level without a classic separation to the isolated private second floor is emphasized by a ground plan without walls.

The offi ce and residential building is for people who attach great importance to urban living and working. An ob|ect of special character was erected between two historical houses, making a self-confi dent statement. The building offers transparency in the public areas not meant to guard the residents’ privacy

Smaller airports permit all passenger transactions to take place within a "distance ot visibility.-‘ which is the concept of this airport extension. One of the requirements was the creation of a continuous shed roof with a powerful roof light and clearly separated ancillary inserted buildings, which would allow cross views into out lying spaces.

A single-storey building from the 60’s with a saddle-roof is situated in one of Graz’s best urban districts. The slope of the site inspired the architects to heighten the house in order to give rooms perfect daylight and views of the city Inner walls on the ground floor were removed to create a living/dining/cooking area with large windows connecting it to the outdoors.

The lightness and transparency of the steel frameworks and the glass facades contrast the massive, exposed concrete constructions, necessary because of acoustics. Glass, steel and concrete are the predominate materials, reminiscent of the industrial history of the location

Based on the idea of Robert Punkenhofer, an object of both art and architecture, an absolute novelty that is unmistakable. The city of Graz is reflected in the outer layer of the cafe, which is floating as an artificial island on the Mur The architects play with building materials in order to guarantee the best possible effect Inner and outer worlds flow into each other, steel, glass and light make the building seem weightless. The result is technically demanding avant-garde architecture, which defies any attempts to categorize it
