The new crematorium was erected In the forest a Winterthur tradition as an independent construct next to the existent memorial hall. The base is formed by a spatial skeleton of concrete elements to give the building its sculptural appearance. The facade of the crematory and the entrance to the courtyard have massive steel plates punctured with letters. These were developed by the architects and the writer Klaus Merz
