The known cafe "Gavelka" (Cafe Hawelka) on Doroteergasse in a quarter of antique shops can be called fairly the last artistic coffee house. The cafe has been opened in 1939 by wives Leopold and Josephine Gavelka. In the middle of frequenters of cafe call Gaverl (Hawerl).

As though time does not concern this institution, the smell of nut croissants and coffee with cream (melange) was based in cafe since 1945, the cook by a hand greets invariable visitors. Tourists come into "Gavelka" for short term, to enjoy an espresso cup, the car for which manufacturing is, perhaps, the unique innovation. Invariable guests prefer an aynshpenner – firm drink from coffee with cream, with addition of sweet powder.
